Children of Darklight, together with our main sponsor Ledlenser España, proudly present the second edition of the 2026 Light Painting Contest — an established event that celebrates light painting as an art form and a powerful medium of creative expression through light.
In this edition, we take a step further by opening the contest to international participation, expanding its reach and reinforcing its global vision. However, we strongly recommend carefully reading the full terms and conditions, as there are specific aspects to consider depending on the participant’s country of residence.
This year, we are also pleased to welcome Light Painting Brushes (LPB) as a new sponsor — an internationally recognized brand specializing in tools for light painting. Their support strengthens the artistic and global character of the contest, introducing new prizes and further consolidating its international projection.
The contest also benefits from the support and promotion of the leading Spanish-speaking light painting communities, such as Light Painting España, Light Painting News, and the educational platform Charla LightPainting, which actively contribute to giving visibility to participating works and strengthening the artistic community around this discipline. We are also supported by the Asociación Fotográfica Asemeyando.
The 2026 Light Painting Contest was created with the aim of continuing to foster creativity, artistic research, and exchange among artists, offering a space where light becomes language and photography becomes experience. At the same time, it seeks to highlight and affirm Light Painting as an artistic discipline with its own identity, giving visibility to true works of art created through this form of expression.

- Registration: From March 1 to April 30, 2026 (GMT+1 during standard time, GMT+2 during daylight saving time).
- Jury Decision: May 16, 2026 (International Day of Light).
- Exhibition: Special selection at 95 Art Gallery (date to be confirmed).

👩⚖️ The 2026 Jury
UA panel of renowned light painting artists and professionals will evaluate the entries according to technical quality, creativity, level of difficulty, and visual impact. Below, you can meet the members of the jury:
🔵 Denis Smith (Australia) – Pioneer of contemporary light painting and a historic international reference. Known for his iconic The Ball of Light technique, he is considered one of the fundamental figures in the evolution and global dissemination of light painting.
🟠 Xandra Lunar (España) – 1st Prize, 2025 Light Painting Contest. Visual artist and lightpainter with a strong social and community-focused approach. Her work connects artistic creation with the body, the environment, and the neighborhood, using light as a tool for expression, identity, and collective transformation.
🟢 Jordi Sanciment (España) – 2nd Prize, 2025 Light Painting Contest. Lightpainter and visual creator focused on researching new tools, forms, and languages within contemporary light painting.
🔵 David Araujo (España) – 3rd Prize, 2025 Light Painting Contest. Lightpainter based in Barcelona, with a career centered on artistic creation through light painting.
🟠 Iris Cebrián (Shyroii) (España) – Photographer specialized in light painting, with a background in art and design.
🟡 Pedro Javier Alcázar (El Niño de las Luces) (España) – Night photographer, prominent educator, and one of the most influential figures in light painting at the national level.
🟣 Frodo Álvarez DKL (Children of Darklight) (España) – Professional lightpainter, ambassador of OM System, LightPainting Brushes and DKL Light Experience , and collaborator with Ledlenser España.
🔴 Ricardo Sánchez (España) – Representative of Ledlenser España, with extensive knowledge of photographic lighting.
